An encouraging word can go a long way. Sometimes, that’s really all anyone needs. The best part is that it doesn’t need to be a a long, eloquent speech. It doesn't need to be worded perfectly. It just needs to be sincere and from the heart. When I think of those moments in my life when I needed an uplifting and encouraging word, but couldn’t find one from someone else at the time, it made me wonder if there was someone else out there who needed one too. Maybe you've needed an encouraging word a time or two.
I then decided, like David, to encourage myself in the Lord and to also encourage others. Amazingly enough, I found the encouragement I needed when I used God's Word to encourage myself. However, I also found encouragement as I began to encourage others. The Bible tells us, "Give and it shall be given unto you." This rule doesn't just apply to money. Being able to give encouragement to others was what I needed in order to receive encouragement myself.
Whenever you feel down, or discouraged, don't stay there. Shake yourself off immediately and do what David did - encourage yourself. Encourage yourself and others, through God's Word. Whenever you feel defeated, declare to yourself that you are more than a conqueror. Whenever you feel abandoned, declare like Jeremiah that God is with you as a mighty warrior! Even if it does not seem like the most popular thing to do theses days, encourage others with your words and with the way you live your life.
Stay blessed and stay encouraged.
